Interesting, but consider this when counting--one bead or one chain may constitute a "sale" as may a diamond ring, an original neck piece, a painting etc. It seems to me that although the Etsy focus is on "sales numbers" the actual value of those sales is more relevant than how many little widgets are sold. For example, my show shows 150 sales, but since the average amount per piece sold is possibly higher than a package of beads or beading supplies, how can this be compared accurately? I know, I know it's the way the system is but not sure how accurate this is to compare the success of shops.

I think it is well known that supply shops are the top sellers. I would love to see listings by genre... what are the top jewelry sellers, the top knitters, the top clothing lines.... the list could go on and on! Thanks for the list above

I was quite surprised when I was researching this article that 23 out of the top 25 sellers are supply shops. And most of them are bead supplies. I'm thinking that may be because when someone purchases bead supplies they usually purchase multiple listings. That's for many reasons: need various size/types of beads for a project, save on shipping, etc.

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this as well.

I figured Dennis Anderson would be there although I'm amazed at how the rest are Supply Shops. Pretty much all are bead supply shops. So all of us jewelry designers are buying plenty over there. Interesting post, thanks.
