The Cuttlebug Machine released by Provo Craft provides a low tech solution to die cutting and embossing. The Cuttlebug is a cutting system designed specifically to help you make die cuts and embossings for your paper crafts and scrapbook designs. It takes a lot of the work out of hand cutting shapes and letters, and it also does the whole job without any computer or electricity! It’s like a low tech version of the Cricut Expression machine.

While it is a low tech alternative for the Cricut Expression, the Cuttlebug is actually superior in some areas for doing paper crafts. A Cricut machine can cut, design, and print shapes like a dream. However it cannot emboss, which is a large feature to leave out for many scrapbookers. The Cuttle bug can not only make die cuts, but it will emboss your paper and materials for you with a simple turn of the hand crank.

When you buy a cuttlebug machine, you are getting not just a die cutting system, but also an embossing system that will let you do just about everything you need for any scrapbooking or paper craft project. With the multitude of cutting dies available, the options are endless, and the only limit is your own creativity. From special embossing dies, shaped dies (animals, flowers, people, and more), and lettering dies that make it possible to cut in many different fonts.

The initial CuttleBug starter pack comes with a good variety of dies and embossing plates to get you started, the real fun comes in when you start looking for different Cuttlebug alphabets, and additional shapes and objects.

Alphabet dies give you lots of control over the styling and design of your projects. You can pick which alphabet you want to cut your letters from, and even mix and match (that’s where the real fun comes in)! You can even find embossing alphabets that let you just make the impression of letters for an even more amazing 3d effect.

CuttleBug dies and die cuts work super simply. You simply place your paper of choice, along with the die of choice into the machine, and turn the little hand crank to run it through the cutter. It will come right out perfectly cut and ready for your craft projects. You can find additional Cuttlebug Dies and alphabets online and in craft stores near you.

The nicest thing about this die cutting system is that it costs very little. Compared to a Cricut, this thing is massively cheaper. You not only save money, but you get the pleasure of doing the work manually and without all the technical mumbo jumbo that comes along with all the high tech gadgets these days.
